Black Millipedes are found in the rainforest’s dark and moist soil, hiding under rocks or leaves. They eat soft vegetation and curl up in defense when threatened. After mating, the female lays approximately 20-40 eggs in a crevice or a hole. The larvae are like miniature adults, and disperse after hatching to fend for themselves.

Diet: Adults eat soft leaves. The larva scrape away and eat the stems and leaves of most bushes and plants.

Dark Coluga beetles can be found easily near marshes or grass flats, foraging for plants to eat. They use their huge antennae to sense movements to help them escape predators. Being beetles, they can fly, although to a very limited extent. The female lays approximately 50-100 eggs in a crevice between rocks, or in a pile of leaves. The eggs hatch after a few days, and the larva emerge to feed, and pupate into adults after about three months. Adults live for up to half a year after that, mating as many times as they can.

Current Diet: Mainly leaves. Adults have been recorded catching and eating Water Beetles.
